Buxton's Thermal Baths were built on to the end of the Crescent in 1854-6. By the early 1900s no less than 70 hydro-therapy treatments were on offer there. The baths closed in 1972In 1987 the building was developed into The Cavendish Arcade shopping centre. Mercifully the developers retained many original features, such as the lovely Victorian tiling and a plunge bath chair which was used to lower 'patients' into the spa water. |
